Young Joey : The Beginning

When Joey was six, he received a skateboard purchased at the Goodwill. His neighborhood friend introduced the sport to him and he has loved it ever since. Joey skated in local and national competitions, and was invited to skate at the AST Dew Tour in 2006 – 2009.  In 2006, he became the youngest skateboarder in the world to perform the 540 backflip rodeo at the Dew tour on the vert ramp.

Joey was featured on every television station in Baltimore, full page in the Washington Post Kid Post, front page of The Examiner in DC and Baltimore, featured in the Baltimore Sun, numerous radio stations including 98 Rock, Style Magazine and named “Top 10 Athlete” in MD with Michael Phelps and Carmelo Anthony at age 9.

He was named MVP by Pro skater Mike Vallely at the PlayStation Hook Up in Philadelphia.  Joey performed three continuous 540’s in one run while at the Dew Tour stop in Orlando, Florida. Young Joey skated the same high vert ramps as the pros and with some well-renowned skaters at the Dew Tour, including Bucky Lasek, and Shaun White.  He continued to skate at competitions around the United States until age 11 when he decided to take a break and pursue other interests.

Joey discovered his love for video editing and photography when he returned to skating at 15. In 2015 he released his first video part called “The Comeback” which established him as a street skater. Joey went pro at age 18 in his beloved hometown of Baltimore.
